Astros Minor League Recaps

Before I begin, I would like to convey my thoughts and prayers to the people of Santa Fe, Texas. I had a soapbox to get on, but I didn't feel like riling everyone up at this hour.

All I can say is that I honestly don't know what else to say besides our kids shouldn't have to worry about being slaughtered in their own schools, but for reasons, it keeps happening over and over and over again. It's absolutely sickening.

El Paso 8, Fresno 7 in 10 innings

W- Jose Castillo (1-0)
L- Buddy Boshers (2-1)

Fresno home runs: Jake Marisnick (1, 2-run in 3rd), Tyler White (8, solo in 3rd)

The Grizzlies had the Chihuahuas down to their last strike in the 10th... and El Paso walked off with the win.

David Paulino went five innings and allowed four runs on five hits (two solo homers) and struck out four. Andrew Thome was the first man out of the Fresno bullpen and went two innings, allowing a run on three hits. Reymin Guduan struck out one in a 1-2-3 8th inning. James Hoyt allowed a run on two hits and struck out two in the 9th, and Buddy Boshers allowed the game-winner, a two-run double, with two outs in the 10th. One of the runs was unearned; if the man who starts an extra inning on second scores, it is treated as an unearned run. Boshers allowed one other hit, issued an intentional walk, and both of his outs came via strikeout.

J.D. Davis scored the first run of the evening on an error that allowed Nick Tanielu to reach in the 2nd inning. Tony Nuñez singled to lead off the 3rd and one batter later, Jake Marisnick smacked a homer. Two batters later, Tyler White launched a solo shot. Jon Kemmer drove in the Grizzlies' fourth run of the inning with an RBI single. Kemmer added another RBI single to his ledger in the 6th. Drew Ferguson started the 10th on second and scored when Kyle Tucker flew into a force out. Tanielu and Kemmer had two hits apiece in this game.

Trent Thornton takes on Dillon Overton in game 3. First pitch is at 7:05 Mountain.

CC home runs: None.

Corpus scored four in the 8th to tie the game and took the lead with a run in the 9th... only to see the Roughriders walk off with the win.

Carmen Benedetti put the Hooks on the board with an RBI single in the 6th inning. Taylor Jones opened the big 8th with an RBI double, and then Randy César and Ryne Birk followed with RBI singles. Benedetti scored the tying run on a wild pitch and César put the Hooks in the lead with an RBI single in the 9th.

Josh Rojas, Myles Straw, César, and Birk all finished with two hits on the night. Straw stole two more bases, giving him 27 on the season. César extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

The Carolina Stros made things interesting with three runs in the 9th but their rally fell short.

Gabriel Valdez went 2.2 innings and allowed two runs on four hits, walked two, and struck out one. Ronel Blanco struck out two over 2.1 perfect innings. Carson LaRue allowed two runs, a solo homer, walked four, and struck out four in three innings, and Robert Corniel allowed two runs on three hits, walked one, and struck out two in the 9th.

Chas McCormick hit an RBI single in the 6th inning to put Buies Creek on the board. Ronnie Dawson ripped a two-run double and scored on Abraham Toro's single in the 9th. Toro and Osvaldo Duarte finished with two hits apiece.

W- Patrick Sandoval (3-1)
L- Wyatt Marks (3-3)

The Banditos only scored in one inning, but it was enough for them to get the win.

César Rosado went four innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked four, and struck out four. Patrick Sandoval tagged in for 4.1 innings and allowed an unearned run on five hits and struck out four; the run was an inherited runner that was charged to him. Carlos Sanabria got the final two outs of the game; he allowed a hit and struck out one.

All three Quad Cities runs came in the 4th: Corey Julks ripped a two-run double to open the scoring and he scored on a Cody Bohanek single. Julks, Bohanek, and Miguelangel Sierra all had two-hit nights.
